So…no more chunks, chips or nuts. I was quite fond of those little add-ins to the previous cookies!
Well, I suppose poppy seeds do count as an add-in, maybe, maybe not?
Definitely a winner from my Cookie Monster tasters. Maybe because no chips, chunks or nuts? Nah. Just a really good cookie.
Light and crispy, crumbly and a little crunch of the poppy seeds. The best surprise was the lemon zest that floated in the background of every bite. Next time I would definitely use even more zest to bring the lemon flavor out. Maybe because I used Meyer lemons it was a little subdued. That sounds so fancy of me to use Meyer lemons but I have a tree with exactly a zillion lemons. I wouldn’t even know where to buy them if you asked!
Not too sweet and definitley a crunch factor from the poppy seeds. The lemon zest was blitzed in the food processor with the sugar – definitely a pro move that released the oils from the zest and made the sugar full on lemony throughout. I was really surprised at the amount of poppy seeds, like half of the bottle that I had just bought (thankfully!)
Now on on to the next lemon adventure…
